The P126 chassis was designed and built by Len Terry of Design Auto in Pool Dorset. BRM placed the project ‘out of house’ due to their resources being stretched by the H16 development. The decision to build a car for the V12 engine (originally designed for sports car racing) was substantiated by the engine being used by McLaren to power their first purpose built Formula 1 car the M5A. |
